A mark of a true gentleman.......You can always tell what kind of men he is by the shoes he wears
The brown round toed shoes are a staple........
Yesterday's turn of events have certainly cemented my urge to be a stylist for the male masses. After having wine with the ladies we took a walk down to the male compound and to my surprise we found the "boys" in the middle of shoe shining session (I KID YOU NOT). This was foreign to me because I was under the impression that it was one of those practices that have become extinct due to the sneaker revolution.
This initially made me question their sexuality because I have had limited encounters with people that still follow the "KIWI KEEPS YOU SHOES PROTECTED FOR A LONG LONG TIME" philosophy. So after grilling and teasing them about it I also got some insight into the metro sexual psyche. Turns out they really go out of their way to research current trends especially the London fashion scene. Do note that through out the grilling session they made it a point to inform and reiterate to me that they are completely straight. So undoubtedly I went online to take a look see at this London look that they speak so highly of. I came across the images above which clearly illustrate the look and style that these metros were spotting. I must admit it is pretty chic and elegant so "good on ya lads".On further observing this trend I found that the brown shoes as well as a tailored blazer are staple pieces in bringing the look together. A man bag completes the look (its my personal mission to have every straight guy I know to spot a man bag)
Sidebar: In this constant quest to find ourselves its interesting to observe how we cross reference and find a piece of ourselves that transcends borders.
It is truly exciting to me to find that there are men, apart from the gay community, who have a true appreciation for fashion. This Kiwi moment really shows that there is potential for my stylistic ambitions. From London to Jozi we keep shining.......for a long long time.
